Card games for the iPad and iPhone are one of the most popular games that are played on portable devices when you have time on your hands. When Microsoft released Windows 3.1 back in 1992 it was shipped with the card game solitaire. Solitaire was the ideal game that could be enjoyed by all ages and helped users master the operation of the mouse, however users loved playing this simple and addictive game. Microsoft has continued to release a version of Free Solitaire with every version of the Windows operating system to date. In addition to the Free Solitaire game, Microsoft recognised that including free games that users could play between office meetings or during lunch breaks was something that users found very desirable. Microsoft soon began including additional games with their operating system including Spider Solitaire, Freecell, Minesweeper and Hearts.
Creating an alternative to Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, Hearts and Freecell that could be played on the iPad and iPhone was a challenge accepted by Proson Technologies.
First we considered what the fundamental reasons were why games like Solitaire and Spider Solitaire were so popular. What our research showed was that while free card games were not elaborate games, they could be played by all ages and had an addictive quality to complete the game. Creating a new and unique Card Game for all ages was certainly a challenge as there are books full of many card games and just about anything that you could think of has already been created.
Following a number of brainstorming sessions our game Joker Shuffle was created as a real alternative to Solitaire or Spider Solitaire. We originally launched Joker Shuffle for the iPhone only and demand for an iPad version ensured that our dual platform Joker Shuffle 2 version was released.
Joker Shuffle is a beautiful memory card game for kids and adults where you have to match a pair of cards, the time taken for you to complete the game will give you a score, exactly the same as the classic Windows Solitaire Game. However, there is a twist! If you find a Joker then you must match it with another Joker to avoid the cards from shuffling and therefore any the cards you have remembered the location of will be lost! It seems super-simple to play but actually requires sharp visual-memory skills.
OK, so your goal is to match pairs to score points. Once you match a pair, the cards will disappear. You need to clear all the cards as quickly as possible to get the lowest score and the fewer Joker Shuffle’s that occur the higher your score will be. You have to be quick, quick, quick, but not so quick that you just keep randomly selecting cards, as you will only get a low score with this technique.
Joker Shuffle is fully Game Center compatible and you can judge your success against others that are playing the game around the world. In addition to obtaining a score for clearing the cards as quickly as possible, you can also obtain try and obtain prizes for attaining certain achievements while playing the game.
